Irish Sport Horse Studbook finishes third at Eventing Young Horse World Championships, while Shane Breen collects World Cup points in Helsinki

The Irish Sport Horse Studbook has finished in third place overall, at the WBFSH World Breeding Eventing Championships which concluded at Le Lion d’Angers in France today (Sunday).
The Irish Sport Horse Business Class, ridden by Sophie Richards, produced an excellent performance to finish seventh overall in the six-year-old competition. Owned and bred by Don Hadden from Co Wicklow, Business Class (ISH) and Richards were faultless in Saturday’s Cross Country phase and also in the final Show Jumping, to finish on their Dressage score of 51.1.
Also in the six-year-old final, Cornascriebe Glenpatrick (ISH) and Harold Megahey finished just outside the top 10, taking 11th place (53.4) when adding just two time penalties in the Show Jumping arena. The Irish Sport Horse WSF Carthago (56.5) took 17th place with Fiona Breach (GBR), while DSL The Professor (ISH) and Elizabeth Hayden finished in 26th place overall (62.1).
In the seven-year-old final, The Irish Sport Horse Sammy Davis Junior (ISH), bred by Amanda Vogan from Co. Cavan, finished best of the Irish in 14th place (54.9) when ridden by Galway’s Cathal Daniels. Sportsfield Lord Livesey (ISH) and Mathew Heath (GBR) finished in 17th place (56.5), one spot ahead of Poynstown Will (ISH) ridden by Ciara Power who finished on a score of 54.9. Kincooley Cruising. (ISH) and Tim Price (NZL) came home in 20th place (58.6).
Meanwhile in Show Jumping, Tipperary’s Shane Breen scored a joint eighth place finish in the second round of the Longines FEI Western European World Cup series at Helsinki in Finland. Breen and the Tracy Priest-owned 10-year-old mare Market Irminka, produced a flawless performance when first to go of the 34 starters. Once fence down against the clock in a fast time of 32.26 seconds saw the pair finis in equal eighth place, on the same time as Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) and VDL Groep Arera C. Swiss rider Romain Douget took the winners prize with Quorida de Treho.
