Co Down’s Conor Swail and GK Coco Chanel have won tonight’s (Thursday) 1m50 ATCO Founders Classic at the five-star Spruce Meadows Masters show in Canada. Second last to go in an 11 horse jump-off, Swail and the 9-year-old gelding, owned by Vanessa Mannix, crossed the line clear in 38.81 to finish one hundredth of a second ahead of Canada’s Eric Lamaze in second with Chacco Kid.
Cian O’Connor and Callisto had briefly held the lead after they jumped clear in 39.85. They would eventually finish third overall giving Ireland two riders in the top three.
Swail and O’Connor will be hoping their good form continues in Sunday’s Rolex Grand Slam at the famous Spruce Meadows arena
