“I heard about the class today from the show secretary Patrice Byrne at the Gorey Show, she explained what we had to do and I thought the prize money was very good. I set up a triangle at home to practice and trotted her around it to make sure she was ok with it. She is a 14.2 8yr old by Olympic Lux out of a pony mare. I spotted her as a foal and bought her as a 2yr old. We broke her, produced her and got her up to jumping 1.20m last year. We have done a lot of showing and she was champion Working Hunter pony last year. She won the Show Hunter class here today in Adamstown.”
Senior Category:
1st – Goldfield Fantasy, owned and exhibited by Amy Finn, Kilkenny.
2nd – Mahanagh Heather, owned by Tom Cunningham and exhibited by Roisin Mc Grath, Kilkenny.
3rd – Forpadydeplasterer, owned by Joanne Quirke and exhibited by Róisín Fitzpatrick, Meath.
Amy Finn Winner of the Senior Category
“I am actively involved with the Horse Sport Ireland Young Breeders programme, I competed in Canada in 2017 and I attend all the training. I am hoping to qualify again for Austria in 2019. I heard about the class through attending the Young Breeders and also saw it advertised on Facebook. I am interested in all the Young breeders’ competitions as I have just started breeding and hope to become an avid breeder in the future”
One of the judges Norman Storey commented “I think the idea is super and the prize fund is fantastic. I found it interesting how they found out about the class through friends. I was glad to see the competitors come back after the class for advice. It is great to be involved with young breeders from the beginning.”
