Zambia (ISH) and Gemma Phelan claim victory in the 7-Year-old ISH SJ Series in Coilog

Zambia(ISH) by Diamant De Semilly bred by Alan Robinson, owned by Alan Robinson and Gabriel Mullins and ridden by Gemma Phelan jumped double clear in a time of 31.55 seconds to win the 7 Year Old Final of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series at the fifth leg of the series in 2020 in Coilog Equestrian. One of only seven double clears in the 7-year-old class, Phelan beat off stiff competition from the competitive 13 competitors in the class. In the 5-Year-Old final, seven combinations jumped double clear to split the win. While in the 6 Year Olds, there were four clear rounds.

There was €10,500 on offer in Coilog Equestrian from the Irish Sport Horse Studbook for these young horse classes. In addition, TRM sponsored breeding supplement packs to the winning breeders of each of these age classes. These packs are valued at €1000. (winning breeders listed below)

The next leg takes place in 3^rd & 4^th October in Wexford Equestrian.

Chris Byrnes of Coilog Equestrian centre said ‘The Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series is a vital production path for all young, Showjumping horses in today’s Irish equestrian industry. The breeding department in Horse Sport Ireland should be commended for the continued support they are providing to breeders, owners and riders in running these classes and various initiatives at these difficult times. The Youngster Tour has also played a great role in the production of young horses that may not be as developed as the horses competing here today. These young horse classes act as a shop window which allows breeders and producers to sell and promote the Irish horse on the world stage.’
