KMR Benzini (ISH) and Cormac Rafferty victorious at Louth

The first leg of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series 2015 took place at Louth County Show over the weekend (25^th & 26^th April). Record entries of almost 200 horses across the three young horse classes, were received for Saturday’s qualifiers. In the 5 year old qualifier, 29 combinations produced double clear rounds to qualify for Sunday’s final. In the 6 year old qualifier, 31 double clear rounds were achieved to gain places in the final, while in the 7 year old qualifier the top 25 combinations moved through to Sunday.

The 5 year old final in the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series took place on Sunday morning at Louth County. Four combinations produced double clear rounds to share the win. In the 6 year old final, top place was shared by nine Irish Sport Horses. Unlike the 5 and 6 year old finals, which are not run against the clock, the 7 year old final is run as a jump-off class. The 7 year old final saw eleven combinations achieving first round clears to make it through to the jump-off. Aoife Rafferty’s KMR Benzini (ISH) and Cormac Rafferty were the class winners, after jumping double clear in 35.41 seconds.
