Big step forward for Irish vaulting

OVER the past couple of years with the help and support of Horse Sport Ireland the sport of Vaulting has been promoted and developed around the country. This weekend all that work came to fruition when twelve enthusiastic coaches attended a course with British top vaulting Trainer and Coach Julie Newell.
The weekend was hosted by the Ballyrogan Vaulting Club and organised by the two resident BEV Level 2 coaches Essie Mooney and Helen Keogh, with the help of the regular young vaulters and the two vaulting horses Deco and Butler.
Following the training course and examination the candidates were awarded the British Equestrian Vaulting Level two exam and fifteen year old Ciara Walsh was awarded the BEV assistant coach. BEV also have a lungeing module for people who do not want to coach or train the vaulters .It is for those who want to work with the horse and this person is a very important part of the team. There are now vaulting coaches in the four regions of North, South, East and West qualified and insured to coach and train Vaulting.
Julie gave a course that gave everyone confidence and courage and brought out the very best in all the participants. She was very impressed and delighted with the team spirit and friendship throughout the two days. Julie says that Ireland has a higher standard of people to start with than BEV had when they were formed back in 1996.

Alison Rimaud, Irelands only 3* Vaulting judge based in France and a regular visitor to Ireland
Charlotte Rimaud 3*Ireland’s international Vaulter based in France and a regular visitor to Ireland
Rita Dunne Kells Equestrian Centre which incorporates Kells Vaulting Club
Elena Satalkina based in Croom Co.Limerick and a freelance coach and trainer
