Billy Twomey and Thomas win opener at Hickstead

Cork’s Billy Twomey aboard the nine year old gelding, Thomas, have won the opening international class at the 5 star show at Hickstead this morning (Thursday). Beating a field of 78 starters, the Irish showjumper jumped clear in a time of 58.54 seconds to take top spot in the 1m45 Bunn Leisure Vase class.
Ireland’s Anthony Condon with Chinook II took eighth place in the same class, while Bertram Allen and Cheese WZ took ninth. Irish riders will line out in the second international class at Hickstead today – the Bunn Leisure Trophy, which takes place at 12.45 GMT.
