MEATH’S Sarah Ennis delivered a convincing fourth place at the highly competitive three-star event at Bramham in England today (Sunday).
Starting in 15th place after dressage with the Irish Sport Horse gelding Horseware Stellor Rebound, which is jointly owned by Horseware Ltd., Niki Potterton and Orla Ennis, the duo then produced a clear cross country round inside the time, and rose to eighth overall yesterday.
Today’s show jumping phase again produced a top class performance from Ennis, with no jumping or time faults, and the combination finished in fourth place on their dressage score of 45.7.
The winner was overnight leader, Britain’s Flora Harris and Bayano who, with Ennis, was one of two combinations in the top five who stayed on their opening dressage score throughout. Harris came home with 36.8 penalties.
One of the flagship competitions in international eventing, Bramham is a famously tough test for both horse and rider, and a top five place considered a major achievement.
