Horse Sport Ireland Stallion Selections 2016

  • 14 April 2016, 15:17

The Horse Sport Ireland stallion selections are taking place at Cavan Equestrian on the 19th and 20th April 2016. This year a total of 35 stallions will be presented for selection, including 14 sport horse stallions, 19 Irish Draught stallions and 2 pony stallions. The selection will include a conformation, movement and athleticism assessment using linear profiling. On Wednesday afternoon, 20th April, Sport Horse stallions will be assessed jumping under saddle. Breeders in attendance will have the opportunity to hear comments from the chairman of the selection panel summarising the panel’s evaluation of each stallion. Stallions which meet the criteria will have an opportunity to participate in the 16th annual National Stallion Parade at 7pm on Wednesday 20th April. This year’s Stallion Parade will have an educational element with a panel of guest speakers demonstrating linear profiling and discussing the attributes required for the modern sport horse.

Spectators are most welcome and encouraged to attend the stallion selections. We particularly want to extend a warm welcome to our visitors from overseas.
