HSI Sport Horse and Pony Foal Qualifier Results from Coilog Equestrian Centre

The Sport Horse and Pony Foal Championship aims to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest level in the disciplines of show jumping or eventing.

The 5^th and final HSI sport horse and pony foal qualifier took place on Friday 21^st September at Coilog Equestrian Centre. This qualifier was judged by Philip Scott, Andrew Hughes, Diane Gibson James McEvoy and Shane Flavin.

Horse Show Jumping Foals

The filly section was won by Lisa Cawley with a filly by For Pleasure (HANN) out of Rincarina (ISH) [TIH], by Cruising (ISH). The show jumping colt section was won by Olive Casey with a colt by OBOS Quality 004 (HOLST) out of Killeenyards Honeychip (ISH), by Chippison (ISH).

The respective reserves for each section were Catherine Dunphy’s filly by SIEC Livello (HOLST) out of Charmante Rokarr (SWB), by Cracker Jack (HOLST) and David Molloy’s colt by Portlaoise First Tuch (ISH) out of Roadstown Cruise (ISH) [TIH], by Cruising. David Molloy’s colt also won the best traditional award in this section.

Horse Eventing Foals

The eventing filly section was won by PJ Lehane with a filly by Munther (TB) (IRE) out of by PJ’s Delight (ISH), by Lux Z (HANN). The reserve went to Aidan Flannagan with a filly by Watermill Swatch (HOL) (TB) out of Everything Essential (ISH) by Flagmount King (IDC1). Aidan Flannagan’s filly also won the best traditional award for this section.

The colt section was won by Kieran O Gorman with a colt by Munther (TB) (IRE) out of Brookfield Royale (ISH), by Lux Z (HANN). The reserve was awarded to Patricia Lawlor’s colt foal by OBOS Quality 004 (OLD) out of Laurel Leaf (TB) (IRE) by Taipan (IRE) (TB). The award for best traditional foal in this section went to Mary Rothwell’s colt foal by Island Commander (TB) (IRE) out of Greenhall Violet (ISH) [TIH] by Greenhall (ISH).

Pony Show Jumping Foals (NEW – 2018)

The filly section was won by Pat Lynch with a filly by I Love You Medlody (CP) out of Doovins Silver Smoke (CP),by Grey Rock Trish (CP) and the reserve went to Ann Grime’s filly by Thornberry Lord Admiral out of Brookhall Emma Lilley (WPC), by Barkway Artist (WPC).

The colt section was won by Sandra Barnwell with a colt by Machino Carwyn out of Angel Delight (WNTR) by Muharib (TB). The reserve was awarded to Catherine Boylan’s colt by Chinook Limelight (WPC) out of Paulank Lady Lucia (WPC), by Ceulan Lord Luke (WPC).

Pony Eventing Foals (NEW – 2018)

The eventing filly section was won by Deboragh McCann with a filly by Newtown Moll’s Pride (CP) out of Woodend Rose (CP), by Ard Halequin (CP). The eventing colt section was won Peter Byrne with a colt by Gwennic De Goairva (CP) out of Wyndham Petite Fleur (IPS), by Kilvington Scoundrel (BRP).

Winner of the colt eventing section – Peter Byrne with a colt by Gwennic De Goairva (CP).

The final takes place at Cavan Equestrian Centre on Friday 19th of October.
