HSI Sport Horse and Pony Foal Qualifier Results from Creagh Equestrian Centre

The Sport Horse and Pony Foal Championship aims to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest level in the disciplines of Show Jumping or eventing.

The region 4 HSI sport horse and pony foal qualifier took place on Monday 13^th August at Creagh Equestrian Centre. This qualifier was judged by Padraic Heaney, Janet Murray, John Fennell, Jack Doyle and Jim Roberts.

Horse Show Jumping Foals

The filly section was won by Caroline Tunney with a filly by Sligo Candy Boy (ISH) out of Ozopmas (TRAK) by Sorro (RTRK) and the show jumping colt section was won by John Nash with a colt by Celtic Hero B Z (ZANG) out of Conolin (ISH) by Radolin (KWPN). The respective reserves for each section were Michael & Danielle Egan’s filly by Clonaslee Captain Cristo (ISH) out of Oakfield Sweet Heart (ISH) by Womanizer (KWPN) and Susan Malee’s colt by Kroongraaf (KWPN) out of Carrabeg One To One (ISH) by Le One (ISH).

Horse Eventing Foals

The eventing filly section was won by Michael Dooner with a filly by Loughahoe Guy (ISH) out of Vanity Fare (ISH) by Dunkerrin Grey Mist (IDC1). This traditional filly was also awarded best traditionally-bred filly foal prize money. The reserve eventing filly went to Tommy Ftizpatrick with a filly by Courage II (HOLST) out of Dysert Girl (ISH) by Ricardo Z (ZANG).

The colt section was won by Michael & Danielle Egan with a colt by Clonaslee Captain Cristo (ISH) out of Hallowberry Destiny (ISH) by Ramiro B (BWP). The reserve was awarded to Caroline Tunney’s colt foal by Kroongraaf (KWPN) out of Light Devine (IRE) (TB) by Kalanisi (IRE) (TB).

A traditional prize is available this year and the winner of the colt prize was Pat Carty’s eventing colt entry by Loughahoe Guy (ISH) out of Stept Smooth (ISH) by Nero Astaire (USA) (TB).

Pony Show Jumping Foals (NEW – 2018)

The filly section was won by Michael Flanagan with a filly by Silver Shadow out of Benbulben Star by Earl of Newbridge and the reserve went to Ann Grime’s filly by Thornberry Lord Admiral out of Brookhall Emma Lilley by Barknay Artist.

The colt section was won by Killian Hogan with a colt by Silver Shadow out of Cashelbay Princess by Cashelbay Prince. The reserve was awarded to Mary Ellen Rice’s colt by Glenmore Fear Dun out of Cool Miss Neat.

Pony Eventing Foals (NEW – 2018)

The eventing filly section was won by Sharon Walsh with a filly by Ross Fear Bui out of Cool Lass by Rynn Richard. The eventing colt section was won by Tom Keane’s colt by Glenmore Mirah Patrick out of Moores Mama Mia by Moores Clover.

The next regional qualifier will be taking place at Wexford Equestrian Centre (Region 2) on Monday 20^th August.
