HSI Sport Horse Foal Qualifier Results – Wexford Equestrian Centre

The Sport Horse Foal Championship aims to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest International level in the disciplines of Show Jumping or eventing.

Wexford Equestrian held the IHB Region 2 qualifier on Sunday the 12th July. The potential Eventing foals were judged first. The colt section was won by Terry Keogh with a colt by Frankfort Boy (TB) out of Bouncing Lilly (ISH) by Grange Bouncer (ID C1). The reserve was awarded to Matt Cosgrove’s colt foal by Lansdown (IDC1) out of Equable Abbey (ISH) by Puissance (ISH).

In the Filly section, the top eventing filly foal winner was Margaret Jeffares filly by Emperor Augustus (TB) out of Debbies Clover (ISH) by Farney Clover (ISH). Reserve place went to Oliver Walsh’s foal by Dignified Van’t Zorguliet (BWP) out of Crosshue Lass (ISH) by Colourfield (TB).

The show jumping foals were then presented. The winning colt show jumping was owned by Nick Sinnott and the foal was by Dignified Van’t Zorguliet (BWP) out of Colestown Rose (ISH) by Puissance (ISH). The reserve colt foal was awarded to Sean Barron’s foal by Cavalier Land (ISH) out of Fuieslier (ISH) by Flagmount King (IDC1).

The Show jumping filly foal section was won by Johnston Brodie’s filly foal by Kannan (KWPN) and out of the ISH mare Kurumba by Cruising (ISH). The reserve was awarded to Tim Brennan’s filly foal by Cornet Obolensky, out of MHS Attraction (ISH) out of Numero Uno (KWPN). This foals dam MHS Attraction (ISH) divided the five year old final of the ISH studbook series in Cork on Sunday having jumped double clear.

More regional qualifiers will be taking place next weekend at Mullingar Equestrian Centre (Region 1) on the 18th July, Newcastle West Show (Region 3) and Tubberbride Stables, Sligo (Region 5) which are both taking place on Sunday the 19th July.
