Ireland’s Bertram Allen gallops to five-star win in Qatar

A stunning jump-off performance from Wexford’s Bertram Allen and the 11-year-old stallion GK Casper, has seen them take victory in today’s (Friday) feature competition at the five-star Global Champions Tour show in Doha, Qatar.

With 16 combinations making it through fault free to the second round, the jump-off was always going to be very competitive and at the finish, Allen had to be at his brilliant best to take the win. A scorching clear round in 33.75 seconds saw him take the top prize of €36,450, outpacing a top class field.
Belgium’s Karel Cox and Dublin van Overis finsied as runners-up in 34.07, while French rider Julien Epaillard and Usual Suspect d’Auge finished third in 34.12.
Doha is hosting the opening round of the 2019 Global Champions League and Longines Global Champions Tour this weekend at the stunning Al Shaqab arena.
