Irish Pony Show Jumping squad named for European Championships

Horse Sport Ireland are pleased to announce the GAIN Irish Pony Show Jumping squad for the FEI Jumping European  Championships for Ponies which will be held in Strzegom, Poland from 03-07 August 2022.

The GAIN Irish squad is as follows;

Kilkenny’s Eoin Brennan with Glor Tire Cruise (ISH)

Kilkenny’s James Brennan with MHS Glow (ISH)

Sligo’s Paddy Reape with Valma De Fougnard

Clare’s Coen Williams with Saxton Freedam (ISH)

Westmeath’s James Derwin with Rincoola Babog (ISH) 

Non travelling reserves in alphabetical order:

Katie McEntee – Carrickaduff Pet

Katie Nallon – Little Smithe

Ben Walshe – Derryvane Belle

Irish Pony Team Manager Gary Marshall is looking forward to a successful Championships and said:

“It has been yet another tough year for selection. We have so many great young athletes this year. There are eight or ten riders who would be very capable of going to the Championships. The standard was high and there was little between the top combinations, making my job very difficult. Eight riders were on Nations Cup winning teams this year. It was a tough call but I am confident in the riders selected. It is great to get back jumping in full swing after the pandemic as I felt last year we did not have the opportunity to be fully prepared heading to the Championships.

“We have been consistent through out the year and hopefully we can keep up the momentum going to the Championships I would like to take this time to thank everyone involved in the programme who works behind the scenes with me and who makes this all happen. I would also like to thank the athletes, parents, trainers and grooms and last, but not least, our sponsors GAIN Equine Nutrition, Uvex, Horseware, TRM Nutrition, Dubarry of Ireland and Berney Bros Saddlery. I hope we can do you and our country proud.”
