Irish Pony Show Jumping Team Win Hagen Nations Cup

The winning Irish Pony Show Jumping team at Hagen, GermanyIn what has already been a tremendous season for the Irish Pony Show Jumping Team, they added yet another Nations Cup victory to their record.
Competing in the FEI Youth Nations Cup in Hagen, Germany, Gary Marshall’s team of Kian Dore, Senan Reape, Paddy Reape and James Derwin finished the two-round Nations Cup on a team score of 0, the only team of the four teams competing to do so.
Kian Dore got the team off to a great start, jumping double clear with Sparkling Lackaghmore Joey, Senan Reape partnered Nora, Paddy Reape also jumped double clear with Fernando and James Derwin jumped clear in the opening round with Rincoola Babog (ISH) and did not have to jump in the second round as Ireland had already secured the win.
Sweden finished second on a team score of 8 faults, The Netherlands also on a score of 8 but in a slower time were third and host nation Germany were fourth.
This afternoon’s result comes off the back of a very successful show at Hagen. Yesterday the Irish Junior team won the Junior Nations Cup.
The pony riders have demonstrated great form in Hagen. On Thursday, five Irish riders finished inside the top ten, including Westmeath native and reigning European Champion James Derwin taking first and second place.
