Northern Ireland Executive confirm competitive equestrian action can resume from this Saturday July 11th

Horse Sport Ireland are delighted to confirm that following on from discussions between HSI and the Northern Ireland Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DEARA), the Northern Ireland Executive have today (July 9th) announced that equestrian competitions can resume behind closed doors from this Saturday July 11th.

Speaking after the announcement, Horse Sport Ireland CEO Ronan Murphy said:

“We would like to thank the Northern Ireland Executive for permitting equestrian competitions to resume from this Saturday July 11th and thank Showjumping Ireland for their help in recent discussions with the relevant parties in Northern Ireland. This is very important for our industry as a number of important events had been scheduled to take place at Northern Ireland venues in the coming weeks. The announcement today brings clarity and allows competitions to resume in line with government regulations and equestrian return to sport Covid-19 guidelines and we wish all our athletes a safe return to competitive sport.”

Kernan Equestrian Centre in Co Armagh will host a leg of The Underwriting Exchange National Grand Prix league and a leg of the Ulster Grand Prix league this weekend, with registered Show Jumping competitions also planned for The Meadows and Portmore.
