ON THIS DAY – Wins for Sarah Ennis, Barry Capstick, Dermott Lennon and Billy Twomey

Exactly six years ago today, on May 18th 2015, Meath’s Sarah Ennis claimed victory in the main three-star Dodson & Horrell Challenge at Chatsworth in England on the Irish Sport Horse, Horseware Stellor Rebound.

Holding fifth place after the dressage phase, Ennis climbed the rankings after show jumping and cross-country to finish first of a 60-strong field on the then ten year-old bay gelding.

Also on the same day in Carriage Driving, Ireland’s Barry Capstick won the international Horse Pairs competition at the Royal Windsor Show in England, while the Irish Sport Horse Dougie Douglas took victory in the three-star show jumping Grand Prix at Odense in Denmark, ridden by Britain’s Holly Gilliot.

A year later on May 18th 2015, The Irish Sport Horse mare Loughview Lou Lou recorded another Grand Prix win under Ireland’s Dermott Lennon when winning at Windsor CSI3*. Billy Twomey and the Irish Sport Horse stallion Ardcolum Duke claimed the 1m50 Bahrain Pearl Stakes at the same event.
