European Championships kick off in Millstreet this week

The first of the 2017 European Championships for Team Ireland Equestrian’s riders gets underway this weekend at Millstreet (IRL). The County Cork venue plays host to the FEI European Eventing Championships for Young Riders & Juniors, with 16 nations set to compete. Action kicks off on Wednesday, with the first horse inspection taking place. The dressage phase takes place on Thursday and Friday, the cross-country phase on Saturday and the final showjumping phases takes place on Sunday, when the European Championships will be decided.
Ireland’s showjumpers will compete at the famous 5 star show at Aachen (GER) this weekend, with the Rolex Grand Prix taking place on Sunday at 13.00 GMT. Ireland will also be represented at the German venue in dressage and eventing, with Ireland fielding a team in the next leg of the FEI Nations Cup Eventing Series 2017.
Elsewhere on the showjumping circuit, Team Ireland Equestrian riders compete at Samorin (SVK), Ottawa Ontario (CAN), Knokke (BEL), Megeve (FRA), Ascona (SUI), Williamsburg Michigan (USA), Zuidwolde (NED), Fontainebleau (FRA), Beaumont Hague (FRA), Opglabbeek (BEL), Le Mans (FRA) and Valkenswaard (NED).
This week over 150 international entries have been made for more than 70 Irish riders competing in FEI competitions worldwide.
