- 1 May 2014, 21:34
BRITISH event rider William Fox-Pitt is back as World number one in the FEI rankings after sweeping to victory on the Irish Sport Horse Bay My Hero at last week’s Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.
Fox-Pitt now has a 16-point lead over New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson, who had held the top spot since claiming team bronze at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The British rider achieved victory at the four-star Rolex event on a horse bred by Wexford’s Bryan Maguire.
In the rankings, published today, and covering results up to April 30, Aoife Clark is Ireland’s highest-placed rider at number 15, with Joseph Murphy holding 48th place. Ireland has three other riders in the top 100 – Sarah Ennis at 65th, Sam Watson at 93rd, and Michael Ryan at 94th.
The FEI rankings cover the performances of over 3,500 international event riders.
